Sleepy Chamomile
Origin

Nile River Delta, Egypt

Soft chamomile blossoms from the Nile’s fertile farmland, finished with lemon.

Harvest
Winter to spring
Setting
River delta

Egyptian chamomile is grown on irrigated land along the Nile, where the river’s silt, long sunshine and mild winters suit a crop that flowers from winter into spring. Dried chamomile blossoms give a gentle, floral, apple-like cup, and lemon adds a clean lift to an evening tea.

The name chamomile comes from the Greek for “ground apple”, a nod to its sweet scent. Brewed as a soothing evening drink around the Mediterranean for centuries, it is still a staple of the bedtime cup, and Egypt is one of the best-known sources of the dried flowers.
